West Chester Captures Tournament Title With Win Over Philadelphia

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester claimed the championship of the Holy Family Tournament over the weekend with two more victories on Saturday to finish undefeated in its four matches. The Golden Rams (4-0) clinched the title with a 3-0 sweep over Philadelphia University (1-3), following a 3-1 triumph opposite host Holy Family (0-4) in the afternoon.

Lisa Yeasted registered 98 assists in the two matches, including 60 against Holy Family in the day’s first match. She spread the wealth among her middle and outside hitters all weekend long, getting everybody involved.

Kristen Decker posted 13 kills and 24 digs opposite Holy Family and followed up with a 10-kill, 20-dig performance against Philadelphia U. Ashley Focht also notched 10 kills for the Golden Rams. Jacqueline Vivanco recorded 11 digs.

West Chester dropped just two games in its four matches, sweeping both Bridgeport and Philadelphia. C.W. Post’s win in game two of their match opposite the Golden Rams marked the only time during the weekend that the Rams were tied in the contest. Holy Family’s win in game three on Saturday morning was a closely contested 32-30 tilt.

West Chester is off until next weekend when the Golden Rams take their undefeated record on the road to the Wilmington Tournament in Wilmington, Del.
